This shows a stark contrast to the leading digital currency, bitcoin (BTC), which set a new record yesterday of $69,200 (USD). This is shown by data from explorer CoinMarketCap. At press time, Ethereum's cryptocurrency ether (ETH), which follows bitcoin in capitalization, is at 21% of its ATH recorded more than two years ago. This was around $4,900 in November 2021. Thus, ETH is currently the altcoin that is closest to its ATH of the 10 with the largest capitalization. Just the one that follows ETH in capitalization and close to its all-time high is BNB. It is 38% away from its ATH obtained more than three years ago. Such a record was $690 in May 2021. The rest of the top 10 altcoins with the highest capitalization are more than 50% of their ATHs. Precisely, these are solana (SOL), XRP, cardano (ADA), dogecoin (DOGE), shiba inu (SHIB), avalanche (AVAX), polkadot (DOT) and tron (TRX).
