On December 3, the South Korean Martial Law Command issued Martial Law No. 1, announcing the following matters to be implemented throughout South Korea from 23:00 on December 3, 2024: 1. Prohibit all political activities such as activities and political organizations of the National Assembly and local councils, parties, gatherings, demonstrations, etc. 2. Prohibit all behaviors that deny the free democratic system or attempt to subvert it, prohibit fake news, fabricated public opinion, and false incitement. 3. All speech and publication are under the control of the Martial Law Command. 4. Prohibit strikes, work stoppages, and gatherings that cause social chaos. 5. All medical personnel, including interns and resident doctors, who are on strike or leave their positions, must return to their positions within 48 hours. Violators will be punished according to the Martial Law Act. 6. Except for forces subverting the state, ordinary citizens will minimize the inconvenience of daily life as much as possible. For violators of the above martial law orders, arrest, detention, and search may be conducted without an arrest warrant and punishment may be carried out in accordance with Article 14 of the Martial Law Act, according to Article 9 of the Martial Law Act of the Republic of Korea (Special Measures by Martial Law Command).
