The geopolitical situation remains tense with concerns surrounding American policy towards Ukraine and China. President Trump's statements regarding Ukraine and the possibility of imposing new tariffs help mitigate risk, boosting demand for safe-haven assets such as gold. This is a key factor influencing stock markets and currencies.
There is a decline in stocks in Asia, particularly in Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Chinese tech stocks in Hong Kong fell after a recent rise driven by optimism about artificial intelligence. American futures are also falling, while European futures show a slight increase. Overall, there is some nervousness in the markets.
The Japanese yen is seeing strong growth against the dollar, reaching its highest level since December.
