U.S. Expands Western Hemisphere Visa Restrictions, Targeting 26 Individuals

The policy targets those acting on behalf of U.S. “hostile nations” or undermining American interests in the region.

According to the statement, the expanded policy prohibits visa issuance to Western Hemisphere nationals who knowingly direct, authorize, fund, or provide substantial support to activities opposing or undermining U.S. interests in the region on behalf of hostile nations, their proxies, or related entities. These individuals and their immediate family members are typically banned from entering the United States.

The State Department did not disclose the names of the 26 individuals or specify which countries are classified as hostile nations.
