Golden Finance report, June 16th, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary of founding next month, but a Reuters/Pollster poll shows that nearly two-fifths of Americans believe the U.S. cannot continue for another 250 years.
This four-day survey ended on Monday.
The survey shows that 38% of respondents (including 40% of Democrats and 26% of Republicans) believe the U.S. will not continue to exist as a unified country after 250 years.
Two-thirds of respondents (including 85% of Democrats and 50% of Republicans) agree with the statement that "the American democratic system is facing a risk of failure," a higher proportion than the 57% in a survey conducted in August last year.
The proportion of Americans who believe the U.S. is the world's most outstanding country is declining.
30% of respondents believe the U.S. is the greatest country in the world, down from 38% in November 2017, during Trump's first term.
Most Americans (including three-quarters of Democrats and half of Republicans) believe that celebrations of the 250th anniversary of American independence have become overly politicized.
