SBET Crypto Token? Joseph Lubin Hints on What's Next for ETH Strategy Spin Off

• Linea’s token is next, Infura’s DIN to follow Joseph Lubin, co-founder of the Ethereum (ETH) cryptocurrency and the founder of ConsenSys, the most influential Ethereum (ETH) development studio, doesn’t rule out the opportunity for SharpLink (SBET), “ETH MicroStrategy,” to release its own crypto token.

SharpLink (SBET), an overhyped software development firm that provides institutions with the exposure to Ether (ETH) via its stocks — not unlike Michael Saylor’s Strategy — might get its own cryptocurrency token. Such statement was shared by SharpLink’s chairman Joseph Lubin.

When asked about the opportunity to tokenize SBET stocks to mitigate potential pump and dump schemes as well as impersonations, the ConsenSys founder provided zero exact details, only pointing out that the community should expect “so much more” here.

Lubin highlighted that all his decentralized initiatives might be underpinned by native governance cryptocurrency tokens sooner or later:

We have a short and medium term plan/strategy. It involves protocolization of our current products and other initiatives. And Web3 protocols need tokens

He also added that all potential tokens of his products will be aligned with each other.

As covered by U.Today previously, SharpLink Gaming, helmed by Lubin, already amassed almost $0.5 billion in Ether (ETH) on its balance.

The company’s SBET stocks are available on NASDAQ. The SBET price is highly volatile; currently it sits at $9.21 pre-market, being 71% down.

It should also be noted that many SBET tokens are popping up here and there on various blockchains. None of them is somehow associated with ConsenSys, so, crypto owners should be very attentive before investing in such projects.

Most importantly, Lubin outlined the hypothetical “schedule” of the ConsenSys tokens rollout. The first in line is LINEA, the governance crypto of the eponymous Ethereum Layer 2.

Then, ConsenSys considers the token for DIN, a decentralized Web3 infrastructure platform that is an expansion of Infura, a blockchain API major.

Ethereum’s (ETH) price is in the green today. The second-largest cryptocurrency is staying above $2,533, being 0.61% up in the last 24 hours.
