Democrats have accused Trump of encryption corruption in an explosive new House report.
Golden Finance reported that a new report released by the chief Democrat of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee accuses President Donald Trump of abusing his influence over national encryption policy for personal and family gain. The document, published by Congressman Jamie Raskin this week, states that Trump's pro-encryption stance is closely intertwined with his private business interests, which have generated “hundreds of millions of dollars” in income for the Trump family during his current term. This minority party report from the committee claims that Trump is using his position in the White House to promote family-related businesses, while allowing his political allies and foreign individuals to gain privileged access and opportunities through investments in encryption companies closely related to Trump. Raskin stated that the scale of this potential conflict of interest is unprecedented. “We do not yet know where all the money comes from, but the United States has never seen such a scale of corruption occurring within the White House,” he said. According to the document, Trump's policy stance is “yet another self-serving plan by the Trump family, built on the corruption of foreign interests seeking to gain influence through pay-for-play deals and seeking secret channels for opportunities.” The Democratic Party currently does not control both houses of Congress, so the report cannot trigger action immediately. However, it is released at a politically sensitive time: encryption legislation is stalled in the Senate, while budget negotiations around healthcare and social services are ongoing.
