Trump announces nomination of Brett Sampson as the new director of the Bureau of Labor Statistics

Odaily Planet Daily reports that U.S. President Trump posted on social media that for years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, under the management of “inept and incapable” officials, has released “highly inaccurate” data that has misled American businesses, policymakers, and families. As a result, he has dismissed the previous director. Trump stated, “I am pleased to nominate the talented Brett Matsumoto as the new director.” Matsumoto previously served as a senior research economist at the bureau and is currently a senior economist on the Trump Economic Advisory Council. Trump believes Matsumoto has the ability to “quickly resolve” the longstanding issues within the Bureau of Labor Statistics, praising him as an “outstanding, reliable, and trustworthy economist,” and is confident he will help the bureau “shine again.” (Jin10)
