Alphabet Stock Drops Over 4% as Google Delays Flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro Model

GOOGL-4.49%
According to Bloomberg citing sources, Alphabet (GOOGL-US) stock fell over 4% to $354.46 on Thursday, July 16, amid reports that Google is delaying the launch of its flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro AI model by several months. The delay stems from the model's coding generation capabilities failing to meet Google's internal standards. Google had unveiled Gemini 3.5 Pro at its I/O developer conference in May and initially planned to roll it out more broadly the following month. An Alphabet spokesperson responded that the company is rapidly deploying various AI models while maintaining cost efficiency, with Gemini 3.5 Pro and upgraded Flash models still undergoing testing with partners.
