According to PeckShield, Aztec Labs' deprecated payments product suffered an exploit that drained approximately $2.165 million worth of cryptocurrencies, including 1,158 ETH, 150,000 DAI, and 0.47 renBTC. BlockSec researchers attributed the attack to a validation flaw in the immutable stage 2 rollup that allowed attackers to withdraw assets while passing onchain verification checks. The Aztec Foundation clarified that the deprecated product has no links to current network smart contracts or the AZTEC ERC20 token. This marks the second exploit targeting deprecated Aztec infrastructure within four days, following a $2.1 million attack on Aztec Connect on June 14.
