Bank of Korea Concludes Search for New Chief Economist After Lee Jae-won's Term Ends

According to Yonhapinfomax, the Bank of Korea completed recruitment for the next chief economist of its Economic Research Institute on July 10, following the end of Lee Jae-won's three-year tenure. The central bank began accepting applications on June 29, opening the role to both internal staff and external candidates. As a position held with deputy governor-level status, the chief economist appointment has drawn significant interest within the bank. The Economic Research Institute, home to the bank's highest concentration of doctorate holders, conducts research on monetary policy, macroeconomics, demographics, and labor markets.
