Binance Faces Uncertainty Over EU Crypto License as July Deadline Looms

According to Reuters, Binance could lose its route to EU-wide market access from July if Greece's Hellenic Capital Market Commission does not approve its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license application. Under MiCA, a crypto firm authorized in one EU member state can provide services across the bloc, but transition periods set by individual countries can last up to 18 months after the regulation became fully applicable on December 30, 2024. If Binance fails to obtain approval, it may be required to conduct an orderly wind-down and cease serving clients in that member state until authorized. The exchange said it believes its application meets MiCA requirements and would support an orderly process.
