BNB Chain Launches New Layer 1 Targeting Sub-50ms Execution and 100k TPS; Testnet Late 2026

BNB-2.98%

According to BNB Chain, the ecosystem announced a new Layer 1 blockchain optimized for high-speed onchain trading and agentic applications, with sub-50-millisecond transaction preconfirmation and sub-one-second finality. The chain targets throughput above 100,000 transactions per second through co-optimized consensus and parallel execution. A testnet is planned for end of 2026, with mainnet deployment targeted for early 2027, according to the project's H2 technical roadmap.

The new chain will operate alongside BNB Smart Chain, opBNB, and Greenfield, with BNB Smart Chain serving as the settlement hub and a native bridge connecting both chains. BNB Chain CTO David Z stated the design aims to deliver "the CEX experience without the custodial risk" for most users, targeting traders and developers seeking faster execution than existing BNB infrastructure while maintaining self-custody and transparent settlement.
