Busha, Women in DeFi Launch Partnership to Expand Women's Web3 Careers in Africa; 5 Receive Laptop Scholarships

Busha and Women in DeFi launched a strategic partnership on July 6 during the Women in DeFi Summit 2026 in Lagos, with five young women receiving laptop scholarships to support their education and careers in Web3 and digital finance across Africa. The collaboration aims to address Africa's technology workforce gap, where women comprise approximately 47% of STEM graduates but occupy only 23–30% of technology positions, according to McKinsey's 2025 report on gender parity in African technology.

Beyond the scholarship program, the partnership will introduce long-term initiatives including outreach programs for young women interested in blockchain and digital finance, a six-month savings challenge powered by Busha's platform, and an introductory Web3 education program. Both organizations stated that increasing women's participation in emerging technologies would be critical to building a more inclusive digital economy across Africa.
