China Issues Mandatory Energy Efficiency Standards for Solar Supply Chain on July 2

On July 2, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation, issued three mandatory national standards covering silicon ingots, wafers, modules, and inverters. The standards set tiered energy consumption and efficiency targets for each production stage, aimed at phasing out inefficient low-cost manufacturing. Industry experts view the standards as a critical tool to eliminate disorderly competition and drive high-quality sector development. Analysts expect the measures to accelerate the exit of inefficient capacity in polysilicon and module production.
