China to Host 2026 World AI Conference, Pledges to Promote AI Inclusivity for Global South

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning, China will host the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai alongside a high-level meeting on global AI governance. Mao stated that China's open-source AI models have significantly lowered the threshold and cost of AI adoption, enabling developing nations to benefit equally from the AI wave. China aims to use the conference as an opportunity to collaborate with all parties on technological innovation, share AI benefits, and build an inclusive ecosystem that advances AI for the common good.
