According to Zcash developers, Claude Opus 4.8 helped security researcher Taylor Hornby discover a critical vulnerability in the Zcash Orchard privacy pool this week. The flaw could have allowed attackers to mint unlimited ZEC and remained undetected since the pool's activation in May 2022. An emergency fix was deployed on June 1, 2026. Due to Orchard's privacy properties, it remains unknown whether the vulnerability was exploited during the four-year window.
