Consumer Sues Anthropic Over Allegedly Overstated Usage Limits in Max 5x and Max 20x Plans

According to The Wall Street Journal, a consumer sued Anthropic on June 15, alleging the company misled users about usage limits in its Max 5x and Max 20x subscription tiers. The lawsuit claims Anthropic advertised Max 5x and Max 20x plans as offering 5 times and 20 times the usage of the Pro plan respectively, but the actual limits remain unclear and appear significantly lower than promoted. Anthropic's Claude Pro plan costs $17-$20 per month, while Max 5x costs $100 and Max 20x costs $200 monthly. The suit seeks class action certification for users who purchased these plans since April 2025.
