CryptoQuant CEO: Era of Token-Only Altcoins Ends; Three Categories Still Viable

BNB-1.75%
HYPE8.12%
STABLE-1.90%
According to CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju on June 17, the era of altcoins sustained solely by token issuance has ended. Writing on X, he identified three categories of altcoins with lasting value: global internet companies with tokenized market layers (citing Binance's BNB and Telegram's TON as examples with real revenue and execution track records); high-quality DeFi protocols like Hyperliquid that generate stable income; and projects with substantial underlying assets such as stablecoins, RWAs, and tokenized equities. While rejecting 99.9% of altcoins, Ki Young Ju cautioned that most being "garbage" does not mean all are, urging investors to make selective rather than blanket judgments.
