Elon Musk Predicts AI Will Surpass Human Intelligence Within 5 Years

According to The Economist, Elon Musk said in an interview that artificial intelligence will likely surpass the combined intelligence of all humans within approximately five years. Despite acknowledging that the risk of AI and robots malfunctioning and causing catastrophic harm is "not zero," Musk argued against pressing a "stop button" on AI development, saying the most likely outcome would be unprecedented abundance for all.

Musk also noted that humans are unlikely to maintain control over AI in the coming decade and emphasized the importance of ensuring AI systems are guided by correct values.
