On June 4, Flutterwave and Tempo announced a partnership to integrate the blockchain network into Flutterwave's Send App remittance platform and Flutterwave for Business, which handle billions of dollars in cross-border transaction volume annually. The collaboration aims to deploy stablecoin-powered payment rails to reduce costs and accelerate settlement times for transfers involving Africa, where remittance fees currently average near 7%, well above the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal target of 3%.
The integration will support wallet-to-wallet transfers using USDC and USDT, with Tempo's network designed to support ISO 20022 messaging standards used by banks for payment processing. This enables enterprise clients to connect stablecoin settlements directly to existing financial platforms without custom integrations.
