Former UK Defence Minister Warns of Iranian-Style Drone Attack Risk on Portsmouth Naval Base

According to former UK defence minister Tobias Ellwood, on July 5 Iranian-style Shahed drones could be launched from a shadow trawler off the British coast to strike Portsmouth naval base in a "mini Pearl Harbor" scenario. Ellwood told Express.co.uk that the low-flying weapons would bypass current detection systems, allowing a hostile state to deploy drones from international waters with minimal reaction time. The Shahed drones are small enough to fit in standard shipping containers, with five units per rack, and could be fired via GPS directly at naval vessels. Ellwood warned that the UK currently lacks adequate air defence at the facility, making it vulnerable to such a proxy attack.
