Guangdong Issues Red Flood Alert for Xijiang River on July 7, Water Level Predicted to Rise to 22 Meters

According to Caixin, Guangdong Provincial Hydrology Bureau issued its first red flood warning of 2026 for the Xijiang River's Fengkai section on July 7 at 8 a.m., after upstream inflows caused continued water level rise. At the Jiangkou station in Fengkai County, Zhaoqing, water level stood at 17.24 meters at 8 a.m., approaching the alert threshold of 17.80 meters.

Based on current rainfall and water conditions, authorities predict the water level will reach alert level by midday on July 7, and rise to approximately 22 meters by the morning of July 8, exceeding the height of the Jiangkou old city district embankment, with further increases expected.
