IMF Raises South Korea's 2026 GDP Growth Forecast to 2.6%, Up 0.7 Percentage Points

According to IMF and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's statement on July 9, the International Monetary Fund upgraded South Korea's 2026 economic growth forecast to 2.6%, up 0.7 percentage points from its April projection—the largest upward revision among 30 surveyed economies. The IMF simultaneously downgraded its global growth outlook to 3.0%, down 0.1 percentage points from April. For 2027, the fund projects South Korea's growth at 2.5%, up 0.4 percentage points, marking the highest rate among major advanced economies.
