Infineon Wins GaN Patent Case in Germany, Orders GaN Semiconductor to Halt Sales and Pay Damages

According to Munich Regional Court (Landgericht München I), Infineon won a patent infringement case against GaN Semiconductor on June 19, with the court ordering the defendant to cease manufacturing and sales of infringing gallium nitride products in Germany and to pay damages. The ruling marks the third and fourth consecutive legal defeat for GaN Semiconductor in this patent dispute series, according to Infineon. This contrasts with a recent decision by China's Supreme People's Court, which ruled that Infineon infringed GaN Semiconductor's patent and ordered it to pay 10 million yuan in damages and cease sales in China.
