Iran's Foreign Ministry: MOU Article 5 Prohibits U.S. Independent Shipping Corridor in Strait of Hormuz

According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, on July 18, Article 5 of the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding does not permit the United States to establish an independent parallel shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz. The MOU is based on mutual commitments between the two nations; Iran will uphold its obligations as long as the U.S. fulfills its own commitments.
