Recently, Japanese autonomous driving company Turing Inc. announced that AMD Ventures has become an investor and begun integrating AMD AI accelerators into its systems. The funding round raised $79 million at a $600 million valuation through a combination of equity and debt. Turing's executives disclosed that approximately 10% of AI training tasks have migrated from Nvidia hardware to AMD GPUs, helping diversify its supply chain and reduce costs—critical factors in the capital-intensive autonomous vehicle sector.
Turing plans to launch consumer and Robotaxi software solutions by 2028. The company faces competition from Nissan, UK-based Wayve Technologies, and Uber, which are set to pilot autonomous taxi services in Tokyo by year-end.
