Jefferies Challenges Trump's AI Model Export Restrictions as Unsustainable on June 18

According to Jefferies analysts, on June 18, the Trump administration's measures to restrict foreign access to Anthropic's advanced AI models are likely difficult to sustain long-term. The analysts cited significant implementation challenges and potential harm to the U.S. AI ecosystem. "Many American AI researchers and engineers are foreign-born. Excluding them from cutting-edge models could slow research progress and potentially push talent and use cases overseas—contrary to U.S. government objectives," the report stated.
