KODEX Consumer Discretionary ETF Outperforms With 28% Gain in Past Three Months

According to Financial News and Samsung Asset Management, KODEX Consumer Discretionary ETF gained 28.3% in the past three months as of July 26, outperforming technology-focused funds amid market volatility. The fund, which tracks the KRX Consumer Discretionary index, achieved 50% returns since the start of 2026 despite a 4.68% decline over the past month. Holdings include LG Electronics, Hanjin Kal, Coway, and hospitality stocks sensitive to domestic consumption recovery.

Samsung Asset Management manager Moon Hyun-wook attributed the performance to increased foreign tourists, currency stabilization, and government consumer stimulus expectations. "Consumer discretionary sectors show defensive characteristics against geopolitical uncertainty and semiconductor volatility, with attractive valuations and dividend yields compared to other sectors," Moon stated.
