KOSPI Falls 2.6% on Opening as Hana Securities Eyes U.S. Earnings Reports for Recovery Signal

According to Hana Securities, South Korea's KOSPI index opened down 2.60% (77.02 points) at 6,643.58 on July 20, continuing its recent downtrend.

Analyst Lee Jae-man flagged upcoming U.S. hyperscaler earnings reports beginning late July as pivotal for domestic semiconductor stock recovery. Alphabet reports on July 22, Microsoft and Meta on July 29, and Amazon on July 30. Lee noted that Meta and Amazon's earnings per share results, and Microsoft's capital expenditure guidance, will significantly influence global semiconductor valuations.
