Morningstar Sees Netflix as Potential $60B Buyer for NBCU After Comcast Breakup

According to Morningstar, following Comcast's announcement to separate its media and technology businesses, NBCUniversal could attract major tech companies as potential suitors. The firm estimated NBCU's assets—including one of the world's five major movie studios, franchises, theme parks, and a domestic streaming service with sports rights—at $60 billion.

Analyst Matthew Dolgin identified Apple, Amazon, and Netflix as possible acquirers, with Netflix emerging as the likely biggest benefactor. Unlike Apple and Amazon, which have competing priorities, Netflix could leverage NBCU's studio, theme parks, and sports programming to drive growth. Morningstar noted the deal would be within Netflix's capacity, referencing its prior willingness to pursue larger entertainment acquisitions.
