Power Substation Fire in Germany's Reutlingen Causes Blackouts Affecting ~30,000 People on June 8

According to German media and Xinhua News Agency, a power substation in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany, caught fire in the early morning of June 8, causing widespread blackouts affecting approximately 30,000 people. Authorities are investigating whether the fire, which showed multiple ignition points, involved arson or deliberate sabotage. Economic losses from the incident are estimated to reach millions of euros.

Nearly 200 firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the blaze, which was largely controlled by around 5 a.m. on June 8. By morning, power had been restored to Reutlingen's city center and critical facilities such as hospitals, though full restoration is ongoing.
