According to the Guardian, Vietnamese sportsbook QH88 used an AI-generated deepfake video on July 5 to fraudulently present Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as its official brand ambassador. The one-minute clip, looped on QH88's main website, purports to show Fernandes signing an ambassadorial contract with QH88 representatives at Old Trafford. Norwegian outlet Josimar, which first investigated the video in June, identified multiple AI generation tells including blurred details and continuity errors.
In a parallel scheme, unlicensed operator Nightwin deployed fabricated BBC articles claiming Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham had launched a betting app called "Bellingham Bet," falsely advertising 1.9 million+ downloads. Nightwin is licensed only in Curaçao, operated by Flybergom B.V., incorporated there in May 2024. The firm also operates the DK88 brand targeting illegal Malaysian and Singaporean markets.
