Samsung Allows Employees to Use ChatGPT and Claude on June 12, Reversing 2023 AI Restriction

According to The Korea Herald, on June 12, Samsung began allowing its Device eXperience (DX) division employees to use ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, reversing a 2023 decision to restrict generative AI tool usage after staff misuse incidents.

The move aligns with Samsung's broader AI-focused strategy to revive its consumer business. In the first quarter of 2026, Samsung's semiconductor division generated 53.7 trillion won (US$35.4 billion) of the group's record 57.2 trillion won (US$37.8 billion) in operating profit, while the DX division's profit fell to 3 trillion won (US$1.98 billion) from 4.7 trillion won (US$3.1 billion) a year earlier.
