Samsung Biologics Epis Secures SC Technology for Keytruda, Enhertu Biosimilars Targeting $12.7B Market by 2027

According to industry sources, Samsung Biologics Epis has internalized PH20-based subcutaneous injection (SC) formulation technology to support its Keytruda and Enhertu biosimilar development programs. The company aims to apply the proprietary SC platform to these products ahead of original formulation patent expirations.

MSD plans to convert 40% of Keytruda's global market to SC format by end of 2027, creating an estimated $12.7 billion opportunity within the $31.7 billion annual Keytruda market. The global SC biopharmaceutical market is projected to grow from $286.3 billion in 2026 to $498.9 billion by 2031. Competitor Celltrion has already initiated clinical trials for SC biosimilar candidates and is exploring contract manufacturing opportunities for third-party formulation changes.
