According to Rappler, SEC Chair Francis Lim proposed a structured mediation and arbitration framework on Monday, July 13, to resolve the escalating Lopez family corporate dispute involving multiple listed companies. Lim outlined a three-step approach: bilateral settlement, followed by mediation-conciliation if needed, and arbitration as a final recourse. The conflict centers on Lopez Incorporated's leadership, ABS-CBN's management and operations, and First Gen's change-of-control provisions with Prime Infrastructure—which could expose First Gen to as much as P23 billion in losses. ABS-CBN posted a P813 million net loss in Q1 2026. Lim emphasized the need to keep the dispute private, stating: "I don't want them to be washing their dirty linen in public because the public interest is at stake here."
