SK Hynix Denies Acquisition of Intel's Ohio Facility, Announces $3.87B Indiana HBM Investment on July 22

According to SK Hynix's official statement on July 22, the South Korean chipmaker denied media reports from July 21 claiming it would acquire Intel's Ohio semiconductor facility. Intel also clarified it has no plans to sell its chip manufacturing plants.

Under U.S. political pressure, SK Hynix announced plans to invest approximately $3.87 billion in Indiana to build an HBM (high-bandwidth memory) packaging and testing facility, targeting production start in 2028. The move came after U.S. Commerce Secretary Reuschel threatened up to 100% tariffs if South Korean companies did not expand manufacturing operations in the United States.
