According to Odaily, South Korea's SK Telecom announced on July 26 the establishment of SK Hyper, a new subsidiary dedicated to artificial intelligence data center development. The company will initially invest 330 billion Korean won with a cumulative investment plan of 750 billion won by December 2030, maintaining 100% ownership. SK Hyper will oversee large-scale AI data center projects including the planned 900MW Ulsan facility and long-term infrastructure targeting 15GW capacity. The subsidiary will operate under a development-focused model, securing land and power infrastructure while utilizing special purpose companies for construction, asset holding, and operations, allowing SK Telecom to leverage external capital and reduce direct financial burden.
