Sony Receives U.S. OCC Conditional Approval for National Trust Bank, Plans $40M Connectia Trust Stablecoin Launch in 2027

According to Banking Dive, Sony received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) on July 9, 2026 to establish a national trust bank. The company plans to launch Connectia Trust in 2027, a stablecoin trust focused on issuing and managing U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins. The trust subsidiary, part of Sony Financial Group, will operate with an initial capital of $40 million.
