South Korea Allocates 5 Trillion Won Surplus Tax Revenue to Develop Domestic AI Models

According to the Korea Economic Daily, South Korea's Ministry of Science and Information and Communication is considering using approximately 5 trillion won in surplus tax revenue from semiconductor growth to fund development of its own artificial intelligence models. The ministry is discussing purchasing roughly 10,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin GPU modules and intends to allocate these resources to a single team focused on building advanced AI models, rather than distributing them across multiple research institutions to strengthen its competitive position against global models.
