According to Yonhapinfomax, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT announced multiple technology initiatives on July 23, led by Vice Premier Bae Kyung-hoon. The government will advance next-generation small modular reactors (SMRs, 300 MW capacity) by developing business models and fostering specialized enterprises through public-private partnerships. The ministry also outlined defense semiconductor localization strategies, including establishing joint ventures and manufacturing support. A key initiative involves building Jinhaeshin Port as a model Physical AI port, with plans for staged expansion to other ports and overseas market entry. Additionally, the government approved 520 new GPUs for national AI projects following the March decision to allocate 2,832 GPUs across 52 central government tasks.
