South Korea to Launch First After-Hours ETF Trading on September 14; Operators Apply for 10-50 Products Each

According to Yonhapinfomax, South Korea will introduce after-hours ETF trading for the first time on September 14, 2026, with the Korea Exchange confirming final trading targets by late July or early August. ETF operators have submitted conservative participation requests, applying for between 10 to 50 products each, prioritizing flagship offerings with large market caps and high average daily volumes. Currently, approximately 290 trillion Korean won in ETFs (about 60 products, or 60% of total market capitalization of 482 trillion won) have been submitted for after-hours trading. The exchange plans to expand eligible products quarterly, with liquidity providers required to maintain pricing obligations during the 4 PM to 8 PM trading window.
