South Korea's Covered Call ETFs Hit 28 Trillion Won, Doubling in Six Months

According to Korea Exchange, domestic covered call exchange-traded funds reached net assets of 28 trillion won as of mid-June, nearly doubling from 15 trillion won at the end of last year. Covered call ETFs purchase stocks while simultaneously selling call options on those holdings, generating regular income through option premiums and special dividends when performance exceeds certain thresholds. The surge reflects increased inflows amid market volatility and higher equity returns in South Korean markets year-to-date.
