Starlink Enables Buried Venezuelans to Livestream SOS After Quake Kills Over 1,700

According to Venezuelan media reports, a series of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, killing over 1,700 people. While mobile communication infrastructure in affected areas was destroyed, internet connectivity remained operational through Starlink, SpaceX's satellite internet service, which has been provided free of charge to disaster zones.

As internet access became available, a young girl trapped under building debris used Starlink to livestream on TikTok and request rescue assistance, according to Venezuelan media reports on June 30.
