Trump Signs Extension of Controversial FISA Section 702 Surveillance Law Until April 30

Gate News message, April 19 — President Trump signed legislation on April 18 extending the controversial Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) until April 30.

Section 702 authorizes U.S. intelligence agencies including the CIA, NSA, and FBI to collect and analyze vast amounts of foreign communications without warrants or specific authorization. In the process, these agencies may incidentally intercept communications of U.S. citizens who are in contact with foreign surveillance targets.
