According to Barron's, Uber Technologies, electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid, and autonomous driving startup Nuro announced on June 17 a plan to launch Robotaxi service in Houston in 2027, with a pilot launch in San Francisco later this year. Uber will operate the platform and ride network, Lucid will manufacture vehicles, and Nuro will provide autonomous driving technology.
Lucid shares rose 2.4% on the announcement, while Uber fell 3.2% and Tesla dropped 2.1% as the broader market weakened, with the S&P 500 declining 1.2%.
