UK FCA Releases Final Cryptoasset Regulations and Guidance; Rules Effective October 2027

According to the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the regulator on June 30, 2026 released final rules and guidance on cryptoasset regulation through five policy statements and three guidance documents. The final framework, adopted following legislative passage on February 4, 2026, will apply to all FCA-authorized cryptoasset businesses from October 25, 2027. The regulations cover cryptoasset listing standards, stablecoin issuer requirements including reserve asset management, authorized activities and conduct rules, capital and liquidity requirements, and consumer protection obligations. The FCA conducted a comprehensive two-year consultation process involving four discussion papers and ten consultation papers before finalizing the framework.
