UK Sanctions 7 Russians Over Chemical Weapons Development for Novichok, Epibatidine on July 6

The British government sanctioned seven Russian scientists and two state research institutes today on July 6 for developing chemical weapons used to poison opposition leader Alexei Navalny and former spy Sergei Skripal. The sanctions target individuals involved in creating the Novichok nerve agent and Epibatidine toxin.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated: "Russia's repeated use of chemical weapons is a sickening violation of international law and a direct threat to global security. We will continue to hold those responsible to account and work with allies to deter further use of these dangerous weapons."
