According to The Information, over the past six months at least five U.S. startups and small companies with 20-70 employees have terminated Salesforce or HubSpot contracts, switching to AI coding tools such as Anthropic's Claude Code, Replit, and Lovable to build custom CRM and business systems. Annual per-company costs have dropped from tens of thousands of dollars to $500-$1,200, with maintenance expenses falling 99%.

Greenleaf, a 55-person Atlanta real estate firm, eliminated Salesforce, a full-time administrator, and external consultants by using Replit and Claude Code, saving $100,000 annually with monthly maintenance now at $300. The Seattle Seawolves (70 employees) deployed four engineers over four months using Claude Code to replace both Salesforce CRM and AXS ticketing systems, cutting $100,000 in annual costs while growing new season revenue 25%. South Carolina-based Hank AI (24 people) abandoned a $40,000 Salesforce contract for a custom system running at $500 yearly; Utah's Atonom (45 people) similarly ditched a $40,000 contract, switching to Lovable at estimated annual cost of $1,200.
