Golden Finance reported that on April 22, Pakistan said it is ready for the next round of U.S.-Iran talks. However, as the two-week ceasefire deadline approaches, it is still unclear when Iranian or U.S. officials will appear. U.S. Vice President Vance had originally planned to depart for Pakistan, but the trip has been postponed. A White House official said Vance is staying in Washington to attend additional policy meetings. Late Tuesday evening local time, Pakistani officials said Iran has not yet confirmed its participation. Pakistan’s Minister of Information said it is “critical” for Iran to confirm its participation in the negotiations before the ceasefire expires. In an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, Trump said he is optimistic about the potential talks, but added that if the U.S. is unable to reach an agreement with the Iranian government, the U.S. military is ready to bomb Iran again at any time. Even if both sides return to the negotiating table, many sticking points remain—for example, the Iran nuclear program or the Strait of Hormuz. (The New York Times)
